Pura Vida, Ticos! Costa Rican Twins on a Rainforest Trail

A Work in Progress

Twin ten-year-old Costa Rican boys walk a trail with their cousin, a certified rainforest guide. But this just isn’t about the rainforest - conservation, Costa Rican identity, and the boys' sibling relationship are woven into their sensory discoveries along the trail. It’s all wrapped up in Pura Vida, the unofficial motto of Costa Rica. Pura Vida means pure life in Spanish. It is about being close to nature, family and friends, and living a peaceful, relaxed life with them.

Pura Vida can help young readers can make a big-picture connection between local habitat, environmental awareness, and family and friends.
